In this talk, I will present recent progress on the topic of well-posedness of the Dirichlet problem for linear degenerate elliptic equations in arbitrary open sets. More specifically, the corresponding weight of the ellipticity is assumed to be monomial with exponent bigger than -n. We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a unique bounded solution expressed in terms of the Wiener criterion for the regularity of the boundary point at infinity.
